Here we go! The Canucks are officially in the lead in the race towards the Stanley Cup against the Boston Bruins! Tonight’s game ended in a goal by Torres with less than 20 seconds left in the game; it was definitely a good match up! Now although I refuse to give a team facing the Canucks any sympathy – after all my loyalties lie with the blue and green – I must say, Boston’s goalie Tim Thomas was impressive. He’s a great match for Lou sitting at the other end of the ice. But, alas, Bobby Lou could not be outdone tonight!
But besides the excitement the Canucks are igniting in the city, there are a lot of other events you should keep in mind for the summer after the hockey season takes a break for the summer. Yesterday we went for the media launch of Indian Summer, a festival taking place this summer in collaboration with SFU Woodward’s and Teamwork Productions. The festival will be taking place July 7th – 17th, with showcases of Indian food, film, theatre, music, literature, dance, and yoga to celebrate and stimulate conversation in this city about the culture of India and its presence here. In fact, the Vancouver International South Asian Film Festival – VISAFF – that I blogged about a couple weeks ago will also be contributing to the festival! You can log onto the Indian Summer website at www.indiansummerfestival.ca to get more info on the programs and artists that will be at the festival.
Canuck’s for the Cup!
