Fish Eyes

Thursday, July 20, 2006 - Sunday, July 23, 2006
Vancouver East Cultural Centre, Vancouver, BC

Presented by neworld theatre and South Asian Arts in association with the National Theatre School of Canada

Written and performed by BC's very own Anita Majumdar, star of CBC's television film titled "Murder Unveiled", Fish Eyes tells the story of the angst-ridden teenager Meena, an exceptional Indian dancer who would trade it all in just to be a "normal" high school girl. Her dreams consist of being the next Aishwarya Rai and securing the love of the popular boy at school. Luckily Kalyani Aunty (her spunky, pro-India dance teacher) is around to remind Meena about the importance of embracing her origins and talents.

With generous support from the National Theatre School of Canada and Theatre Passe Muraille, South Asian Arts and neworldtheatre presented this comedic "east meets west" story that celebrates the trials of youth and the joy of heritage.
